Activities for My Four Year Olds During Coronavirus Quarantine

We have been staying at home quarantining ourself and maintaining a safe distance from others since beginning of March due to coronavirus. It arrived early in Seattle during last week of January and the number of cases detected spiked up during mid- February. My four year old daughters have taken to this situation very well. They love us being home with them. Here is our daily schedule my kids follow.

7am- 7.30am - wake up.
8.00 am - breakfast. I usually make variety of hot cereal in my instapot. My kids will also have a cup of milk.
9.00am - 10.00am - play in backyard or ride bike in cul de sac.
10.30am - wash hands and have snacks. My kids love walnut, cashews, apples, oranges, crackers, cheese, raisins, veg straws.
11am-12pm - identifying numbers and writing them on their doodle pad. We use the Montessori number board to pick a number, identify it on the board and write it on our doodle board. My kids love this activity.
12 pm- 1pm - bath and lunch. We have been making one pot meals in my instapot. We make soup and bread or rice and curry. On some days I will make pizza, pasta or noodles. My aim is to have lots of vegetables, done fat like cottage cheese or cheddar cheese and a small serving of carbohydrate.
1pm-2 pm - TV time. My kids have been watching Gruffalo, Gruffalo’s child, Witch on the broom, Giraffe’s cannot dance on Amazon Prime. I showed them Home Alone and ET and they found it hilarious.
2pm-3pm - painting, drawing and art time.
4pm - snacks
4pm-5pm- phonics, reading three letter words on cards
5pm-6pm- running around the house and pretend play.
7 pm - dinner
8 pm - brush and sleep

Activities we do:
1. Stitching on felt sheets. Searching Google for “kids felt crafts” brings up tons of inspiration for sewing with felt for young kids. Kids can use plastic needles to sew buttons and other felt pieces.
2. Building art with construction paper: There are tons of ideas on google for craft with construction paper for young kids. All they need is good pair of kids scissors and glue. I also bought googly eyes and pompoms to make interesting crafts and keep them occupied for hours.
3. Playdoh: another activity loved by four year old kids.
4. Bean art: My kids love to play with beans and stick them with glue on paper. Again Google has tons of ideas for bean art.
5. Cleanup: My kids love to use rags and can spend hours cleaning up house ( though nothing really gets cleaned ;) ) with this broom set.
6. Chop vegetables: my kids love to help me cook and chop soft vegetables like mushrooms, broccoli and cabbage with these plastic knives.

Do add your comments and ideas on how your kids are spending their time during this quarantine period. Ciao!
