Activities for My Four Year Olds During Coronavirus Quarantine

We have been staying at home quarantining ourself and maintaining a safe distance from others since beginning of March due to coronavirus. It arrived early in Seattle during last week of January and the number of cases detected spiked up during mid- February. My four year old daughters have taken to this situation very well. They love us being home with them. Here is our daily schedule my kids follow. 7am- 7.30am - wake up. 8.00 am - breakfast. I usually make variety of hot cereal in my instapot . My kids will also have a cup of milk. 9.00am - 10.00am - play in backyard or ride bike in cul de sac. 10.30am - wash hands and have snacks. My kids love walnut, cashews, apples, oranges, crackers, cheese, raisins, veg straws. 11am-12pm - identifying numbers and writing them on their doodle pad . We use the Montessori number board to pick a number, identify it on the board and write it on our doodle board. My kids love this activity. 12 pm- 1pm - bath and lunch. We have been making one...

Weekly Off for Planet Earth

Coronavirus has impacted everyone’s life around the world in one way or the other. Most of the large countries have put their people under quarantine. This has reduced so much of people’s activities all around the earth. People in crowded countries like India and China are reporting about how quite their surroundings are at this very moment. They are really hearing the birds chirping and trees rustling around them. The younger kids are awed by this as they never in their lifetime have seen such quite and peaceful surroundings except maybe on vacations to rural areas. The skies are turning blue and the pollution has drastically reduced. People are seeing the yellow sun during sunrise and sunset. This seems to be mother nature’s experiment to show man kind how much different earth can be if they really wish to. Will mankind learn from this experiment and try to reduce their activities which generate noise and pollution? Can we learn to reduce the number of cars on the roads by carpooling...

Coronavirus and Fear

I live in Washington state where the first Corona virus case was detected. There is lot of fear, uncertainty and confusion in minds of folks around me due to lack of testing which would have determined who is currently infected with corona virus. There are website links and latest news being shared on my What's App groups. This situation has also led every one to suspect every other person around them - may it be in stores or parks or roads. When I go for walks I see people who will step 6 feet aside or move to other side of the road. No one stops to talk like earlier and we just wave hands and smile from a distance.
